Bernie Wirth – Chief Development Officer

Bernie Wirth is Chief Development Officer and leads the Geo Sciences, New Ventures and Commercial/Negotiations functions of the company. He has been active in the upstream E&P business for nearly 30 years. Most recently, he was the Vice President of Negotiations and Business Development for BHP Billiton Petroleum, and prior to that he was the VP for Global Exploration. In his 27-year career at BHPB he held a number of positions spanning negotiations, marketing, acquisitions and divestitures, business development and exploration/appraisal. As Vice President of Business Development, he led the project team responsible for the company’s entry into the Deepwater Gulf of Mexico. Wirth began his career with Chevron USA as a negotiator.

Wirth holds a B.A. (with Distinction) and a Juris Doctor degree, both from the University of Nebraska, and has completed the Advanced Management Program at Insead in France. He is a member of the Colorado Bar and the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators.
